Academic Assistant, Level 08, (401278707)

Faculty Support. The Academic Assistant provides administrative support of a complex and confidential nature for a group of faculty members with their teaching and research activities. This position provides administrative support of a complex and confidential nature for a group of faculty members with their teaching and research activities. Instructional support includes teaching in the Daytime, Cross Continent, Global Executive and Weekend Executive MBA programs, GATE (Global Academic Travel Experience), the Master of Management Studies (MMS) program, the Master of Quantitative Management (MQM) and the PhD program.  Fuqua faculty members travel frequently for global programs, conduct research, host research seminars, and train and mentor PhD students.  The staff assistant should be comfortable working both independently and as an integral part of a team in a fast paced environment.  This position reports to the Coordinator, Faculty Support Staff. The Academic Assistant should be comfortable working both independently and as an integral part of a team in a fast paced environment. Undergraduate degree along with three years of related administrative experience is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a highly computerized environment including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, internet research and database management. Working knowledge of SAP preferred for this position. Proficiency in business communication, both written and oral along with high level writing and editing skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail and follow-through are essential to success in this position. Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities according to importance and urgency, requiring flexibility to adapt to changes driven by faculty or student needs is required. Staff Assistant, Level 08, (401269916)

Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy. The Staff Assistant will provide administrative support to faculty and senior, Palliative Care and State-level Reform Teams. Responsibilities include managing calendars, scheduling meetings, providing documentation, event planning and execution. The Staff Assistant will provide support to a multidisciplinary matrix and research projects. This position is the principal administrative connection to Office in Washington, DC. Work requires a broad knowledge of office systems and excellent computer skills. Strongly prefer a candidate with a 4-year degree. Candidates must demonstrate skill in written and oral communication, and ability to present a professional, customer focus to research collaborators and event attendees. Excellent computer skills is essential to success in this position. Work generally requires three years of related secretarial/clerical experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities. Program Manager, International Programs Office, Level 10, (401276825)

International Programs Office (IPO). The Program Manager of the International Programs Office (IPO) is part of a team of student services and student affairs professionals who develop and maintain a positive learning environment for students, faculty and staff at the Fuqua School of Business. The primary goals of the IPO are to support the international student population at Fuqua and to help provide cross-cultural and international business learning opportunities for Fuqua students. Most of the work of the IPO will be associated with the Daytime MBA Program, however, the IPO is expected to support other Fuqua programs and students in these other programs, including EMBA, MQM and MMS, as needs arise. In keeping with the IPO’s mission to increase global reach and enhance the overall student experience, the Program Manager is responsible for the operational implementation of the IPO’s programs and projects, and for advising on the department’s operational strategy. The Program Manager reports to the Director of the IPO and works closely with others within the Business School, the University, and institutional partners. Academic Technology Specialist, Band C, (401282197)

IT – Educational Technology Services. (Internal applicants only) The Academic Technology Specialist position works directly with faculty and colleagues on instructional design, pedagogy and course-related website development. Bachelor’s degree required with experience in instructional design and Learning Management System (LMS) administration. Instructional design expertise with insights about technology trends and solutions needed to be successful in this position. Candidates must have experience with web authoring tools, multimedia tools, presentation software, streaming video in an academic environment plus knowledge of learning management systems and other tools widely-used for teaching. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Candidates must be able to work in a collaborative team environment and possess strong interpersonal skills. Additionally, this position requires a problem-solver with the ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical terms. Must be able to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people within an academic community. Service Desk Analyst, Band C, (401270271)

IT, Technical Support Center. The Service Desk Analyst is the critical first contact for information technology needs for end users at the Fuqua School of Business. This position requires excellent communication and technology skills in order to effectively answer and solve first level technical questions, triage and route as needed and monitor until resolved. The Service Desk Analyst will dispatch for immediate technical support to Fuqua’s classrooms and seminar rooms. In addition this position will be responsible for maintenance and repair of printers and computers in the MBA Computing Space and all other duties as assigned. The Service Desk Analyst is expected to gain mastery of Fuqua specific applications and technologies. The ideal candidate will be able to configure, deploy, and maintain Windows workstations; identify, install, configure, and upgrade software; identify, install, configure, and upgrade hardware; utilize ServiceNow ticketing application; demonstrate strong customer service background; create/manage Active Directory computer and user accounts; troubleshoot network connectivity issues relating to wired/wireless connectivity, VPN connectivity, and network printing. We are seeking applicants with current professional certification in Microsoft operating systems and/or applications; current A+ and/or Network+ certification; strong customer service background; working knowledge of the Mac operating system; ability to maintain a professional bearing in sometimes difficult circumstances; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, web browsers and email clients, anti-virus and anti-spyware tools. Bachelor’s degree with one year experience in IT or customer service field is preferred or the equivalent combination of training, certifications and/or experience. (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)

Assistant Director, Alumni Relations, Level 12, (401282012)

Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). The Assistant Director, Alumni Relations identifies alumni who are interested in becoming more engaged with Fuqua or with whom the school would like to be more engaged; creates, sources, manages, and defines alumni engagement opportunities, including volunteerism and philanthropy; communicates these opportunities to alumni; and tracks involvement in such activities. This position reports to the Director of Alumni Relations and collaborates with the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team and other Fuqua and Duke University departments on overall strategy, initiatives and events. Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in higher education, alumni relations, or development preferred.  We are seeking applicants with volunteer management experience; project management experience, including meeting numerous deadlines and objectives and managing multiple concurrent projects with limited resources; refined written and oral communication and customer service skills; experience and comfort in interacting with students, alumni and parents, including senior level executives; excellent teamwork and collaboration skills; excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and experience handling confidential information as well as creativity, adaptability, diplomatic skills and sense of humor. Willingness and ability to travel (6-8 domestic trips per year) and work on evenings or weekends as necessary. Strong work ethic in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness and ability to master proprietary database tools. Marketing Communications Associate, Level 12, (401281377)

Marketing. The Marketing Communications Associate is a member of a team that engages in strategic marketing for The Fuqua School of Business. This position is responsible for producing a wide range of writing and editorial marketing projects while working closely with a team of designers, subject matter experts, production managers and web developers and reports to the Director of Marketing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to writing and editing compelling marketing content for websites, advertisements, emails, direct mail, email, landing pages, newsletters, brochures, white papers, case studies, and other marketing campaigns/collateral; participating in the campaign development process from concept to execution; and creating and administering content management and project communications plans. This position works closely with the Director of Marketing to ensure that expectations are met on a per project basis in terms of content, quality, and turnaround time. Creativity and attention to accuracy and detail are essential for success in this position. Applicants must work well under tight deadlines and be able to maintain productive and professional relationships with coworkers, students, alumni and other stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, or related field is required along with a minimum of two years’ experience producing marketing content for multiple channels; five years’ experience preferred.  (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)

Director of Development, (401282265)

Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). (Internal applicants only.) The Director of Development plans, develops, and directs a comprehensive individual fundraising program for The Fuqua School of Business. This position oversees a staff of 7 who comprise the functions of major and leadership gifts and frontline annual giving. The Director of Development reports to the Associate Dean, Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) and collaborates with Fuqua’s Dean, the DAR department and other Fuqua and Duke University departments on overall strategy, initiatives and events. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. A minimum of seven years’ fundraising experience; experience in alumni relations, higher education, or Duke University preferred.  Five years’ experience and demonstrated success managing a team of fundraising professionals. A passion for graduate business education. Impeccable customer service skills. Refined written and oral communication skills. Experience and comfort in interacting with senior lever executives. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Willingness and ability to master SAP-based database tools. Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and experience handling confidential information. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively.  (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)
